One of the great features of the Google Pixel Buds is, of course, the ability to handle real-time translation. This makes the earbuds one of a kind for now. Theoretically, the Pixel Buds allow you to tap, speak, and translate your words in another language.
Firstly, before you start speaking, pop the earbuds inside your ears, and double-tap them to connect them to your smartphone. All you need to do is tap the touchpad on the right earbud and speak a variable of “I need a […] translator”, replacing the dots with the required language.
This will open the Translate app on the phone. Afterward, all you need to do is tap the touchpad and speak. The earbuds will then send the message to the phone, where it will be typed out and then read in the desired language.
Make sure that your phone has a decent signal because all translating services occur in the cloud.
If you are talking to someone else, you or your conversation partner must hold the purple button on the smartphone and speak the foreign words. Once the purple button is released, you can hear the translated words in the earbuds.
How to Use Google Assistant
Another great feature of the Google Pixel Buds is the connection to Google Assistant. It is extremely fast and easy to use – all you need to do is tap on the touchpad and start speaking. The best part of it is that there is no waiting time.
Compatibility
Firstly, it is important to notice that Google Pixel Buds can be used with any device for trivial tasks. However, the translation feature is only available when the earbuds are paired with a Google Pixel series of devices.
Users need either Pixel or Pixel 2 Android phone and also have Google Translate on their phone, and make sure that Google Assistant is running on its latest version.
If you have an iPhone device, you should know that Google Pixel Buds have limited functions. As the two companies are rivals, they are reluctant to make public their services to each other’s customers. As a result, Pixel Buds cannot trigger the Google Assistant on iPhones.
